Episode 380 – The Eric “Sucker for punishment” Mazath episode

This week has been the week of ebay. My new/old 20mm wide angle lens has arrived,
My new/old 20mm AF wide angle.
as has my new Nisi 10 stop (ND1024) filter. Plus there’s a bunch of other stuff on its way.

A big shout out to Sophie and the team at photobookshop for the awesome customer service.

Eric Mazath wrote to say that he couldn’t download all the old episodes. That problem has now (hopefully!) been resolved. Glynn felt Eric needed an episode dedication for his willingness to subject himself to the past podcasts.

The festival will take place in the Portugese city of Porto September 11-17, 2017.

Steve Peters sent us the story about the Indian police couple fired for faking Everest climb with photoshop.
I know we’ve covered this story in the past, but I’m not sure if they had been fired at that point, or just caught out.
Adam told us about Amazon’s $28 AmazonBasics flash,
How I became a better photographer by analyzing my lightroom statistics,
and the liquidation of Sydney-based photography company, L&P.

Glynn found this video about how to create a 2.5D parallax effect,
the story of a painter who took up photography, and how his experience in painting influenced his actions with a camera,
this story of “computational zoom” which will allow you to “compress” backfgound components of your composition, as though you were shooting with a longer focal length, all AFTER the fact,
this video game with its “take your car to a professional photoshoot” component,
plus a report that the Bowens staff in China were not paid in July. The company alledges otherwise.

I have been a professional audio engineer since the mid 80's and am happy to do for free in my spare time what I get paid to do during the week. I created Shutters Inc in May 2005, and it is today (as best as I can tell) THE longest-running photography podcast in the world.

    Hi guys, another interesting podcast.
Very surprised and disappointed to hear Glynn’s info about the liquidation of L&P. They are just near my home and I recently bought a Tenba messenger bag from them. I concur with Glynn’s comments about their bags, they are very well designed and well made. Another great photography store lost to us.
    Keep up the great work,
    Peter
