Episode 495 – Whelmed

This week, Sony announced the a1 (Link #1|Link #2), a monster mirrorless offering, with 30 fps still shooting, 1/400 sec shutter sync speed, 8k/30 fps and 4k/120 fps video.
We discuss Michael’s camera store in Melbourne (kind of) closing their doors after 113 years.
Fuji also announced their latest, the GFX1000S, with a massive 102 MP sensor. Sadly though, only a 1/125 shutter sync speed.
Glynn is about to try out Luminar AI, the latest offering from Skylum.
Nikon is not ordering any new product for the UK market until they can sort out the new Brexit rules for imports.
And with all the gloom and doom, will Nikon be OK? Jaron Schneider thinks so.

I have been a professional audio engineer since the mid 80's and am happy to do for free in my spare time what I get paid to do during the week. I created Shutters Inc in May 2005, and it is today (as best as I can tell) THE longest-running photography podcast in the world.
